Decatur Cooperative Ministry and Project Community Connections, Inc. Join Forces to Keep Families Housed

(As posted on Decatur News Online website: Wednesday, June 2, 2010 11:25 am | Updated: 12:30 pm, Wed Jun 2, 2010)

Decatur Cooperative Ministry (DCM) and Project Community Connections Inc. (PCCI) officially formed a partnership last fall to combine resources and better address the needs of homeless and almost homeless families. With DCM as the lead agency, the two organizations received a Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing stimulus grant of $673,579 from DeKalb County, which will last through mid-2011. The services offered through the partnership, combined with DCM's existing shelter and transitional housing programs, allow DCM and PCCI to help families who find themselves at different points along the homelessness continuum. Poverty is Real:A Benefit for Decatur Cooperative Ministry

If you missed this great night of music...you really missed something special. Mike and his fellow muscians provided a wonderful night of entertainment at Eddie's Attic on Sunday, June 6th, for which all proceeds from a raffle, silent auction, and ticket sales went to support DCM. You can keep up with Mike and his guitar on his website (and be sure to check out his CDs). THANK YOU MIKE AND EDDIE'S ATTIC!!!

KWRD

We would like to recognize and THANK the agents and participants from the Decatur Keller Williams Realty office for selecting DCM as their RED DAY service site! Almost 30 volunteers came together on Thursday, May 13th, to paint, stain, clean, organize, and truly transform much of our shelter space. To see more photos from their day of service, click here.

2010 Garden of Eatin': A Taste of Decatur

The date and place has been set for the 15th annual Taste of Decatur! So, plan to join us on September 25th at the Decatur YMCA for great food and fun. And, just in case you missed last year's event (or would like to reminisce about the great samplings of food), here's a YouTube video of the 2009 Garden of Eatin': A Taste of Decatur.

Also, we've created a special Garden of Eatin': A Taste of Decatur website that will keep you posted on this year's restaurants, sponsors, and auction items. Save this website and visit often to keep up with the event's developments. And, by the way, we would love to hear from you about any restaurants you would love to see at this year's event.
