Our Mission
Decatur Cooperative Ministry serves our neighbors in need. Together, we strive to end homelessness, empower our community through education, and celebrate our faith-based diversity.
Our Vision
We have been called, and are being called, to see ourselves not as individuals but as a community.
We will be faithful in responding to this call as we:
- serve in humility
- communicate in openness
- work towards justice
We acknowledge the power of racism and intolerance in our community; we see the disintegration of family and community; we need boldness to address social injustice.
We challenge ourselves and the faith community to serve those in crisis through meeting their immediate needs. We recognize the importance of growing in depth as we also give attention to the long-term needs of those we serve. We commit ourselves to a ministry that seeks always to enable others to help themselves.
We promote communication and participation in the ministries of service to others. We provide education, training, and worship opportunities. We act as stewards of our financial and volunteer resources to continue service within our community.
